Little League Challenger Division

The Little League Challenger Program is Little League's adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and developmental challenges.

Who can participate in the Little League Challenger Program?

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate.  The Little League Challenger Division accomodates boys and girls ages 4-18.  There is NO COST to participate in the Challenger Division!

How does it work?

The Challenger Division is a non-competitive program that adapts the traditional game of baseball to allow chlidren with a physical or developmental disability the opportunity to play on the same fields, using the same equipment and uniforms as their friends.  Each team will have an average of four practices and will then play approximately four games.  All players are assigned a "Buddy" to assist them through the game.  The Buddy will be in the field with them to help them field and throw if needed and they will help them bat if needed.  Some players will be able to hit from a coach pitching while others may need a tee or assistance from a buddy.  There are no "outs" and there is no score kept.  All players go through the rotation getting their turn to bat.  The average game is 60-90 minutes.

When does it start?

Registration is open 2/1-3/15.  Practices are tentatively set to start in May with games to begin in June.  Practices/Games will be once per week.  Schedule is tentative for now as we need to ensure good field conditions which is weather dependent.

What's the next step?

To register for the Challenger Division, you will complete the online registration that opens February 1st.  In late Spring, we will hold a Fun Day to bring all of the players together and the teams will be divided up based on what is viewed at the Fun Day.
