The MYAA Track & Field program is designed to introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of track and field in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment. Whether your child is brand new to the sport or already loves to run, jump, or throw, this program provides an opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, and be part of a team.
What to Expect
Athletes will be introduced to a variety of track and field events, including running, jumping, and throwing. Practices focus on learning proper techniques, understanding event rules, and developing athletic skills such as speed, strength, coordination, and sportsmanship. Emphasis is placed on personal improvement and effort, not just competition.
Practices & Meets
- The season runs from late April through early June
- Athletes will have one practice per week
- Athletes will compete in one meet per week
- Practice and meet dates/times will be shared once schedules are finalized
Events & Participation
Athletes will have the chance to try multiple events throughout the season. The goal is exposure and exploration—participants are encouraged to discover what they enjoy most while learning the basics of several track and field disciplines.
No prior experience is required—just a willingness to try, learn, and have fun!
